“The Work” is a short film about library workers, the difficulties they face and the communities they serve, at a time when libraries have become so much more than buildings full of books. With a growing gap between rich and poor, and an explosion of homelessness, overdoses, and desperation, libraries and their workers step in to fill so many holes in our cities. “The Work” features conversations with library workers and the people who rely on them and explores these hard realities and the support needed to continue the work.
